Interview with our Male Photo Contest Winner: James Ludwig

James Ludwig's Winning Contest Photo

1. What is your daily work out routine?

Weights in the morning and abs/cardio in late afternoon during my
work break. I will group chest/back, bi/tri, and legs/shoulders.

I take Sundays off and extra days during the week if needed. I like that I hit
each body part twice a week. And then after 2-3 months I will change my
routine and try something new.

2. What is your favorite exercise?

Right now I am loving t-bar rows and reverse grip bench. They are
just exercises I look forward to doing because I can really feel the muscles working.

3. What is your supplement regimen?

Casein protein and BCAA supplements are my two right now. I love
pre-workout supplements but I am taking a break from stims.

4. What is your favorite Inner Armour Product?

I was loving Glyco-Peak because of the flavor and what it offers but
right now I crave the Casein protein. Especially because when I add just a
little water and mix it I have a pudding. The flavors are amazing. I
want to start adding Nitro-Peak too.

5. What is your favorite quote?

Simple for me. “There are no Excuses!” really cant quote just one
person on it. With lifting and healthy lifestyle there are no excuses. Its
you making your choices and no one else. They can influence you but you
make your own decisions.

6. What is your favorite movie? TV show?

Movies are my thing so it is hard for me to pick a favorite. But i can
still watch Man on Fire with Denzel Washington everyday so I would say
that is in my top 5. And my Hulu list of tv shows is long but im pretty
excited about Sons of Anarchy new season coming soon.

7. Do you have any hobbies?

I was an athlete my whole life so I love competing. And since i moved to a new
state half way across the country away from my fiance and family/friends,
I have been using lifting and movies as my hobbies. I try to get out and
do more hiking and outdoor activities but that depends on work.

8. What state were you born in? Where do you reside now?

Born in Ohio and now live in Colorado. No matter where I move and
live, I will always be a Cleveland fan in all sports. Die hard for life.

9. What inspires you?

My family always has. Mom and Dad have taught me and my
brothers a lot about sacrifice, dedication and giving your all, so i look up
to them. My brothers inspire me with the things they do because we are
all different and I like seeing what they do.

And my fiance inspires me. She just finished her Masters in Art Therapy and Counseling.
She is passionate about everything she does; just how down to earth and caring
she is, is amazing. We just got engaged on July 3rd and I know she will continue to inspire me.

10. If you could meet any person, who would you meet?

I think it would be cool to meet Jay Cutler. There are a lot of people
I would like to meet from all aspects of entertainment but
I picked him because of his bodybuilding influence. I would like to pick
his brain about everything from exercises to nutrition to pros/cons of it
all. It would be very educational for myself and a chance to open my eyes
to different things.

11. Where do you work?

I work for the government in Colorado.

Anything else you would like to tell us about yourself.

I am recently engaged to my wonderful fiance. My older brother
just had his twins born this year so it is nice being an Uncle.

Working out and a healthy lifestyle has helped me to continue to grow; I enjoy
sharing my knowledge with others to help inspire and also enjoy learning
new things.

Interview with Anthony Sherman, Inner Armour Athlete & Arizona Cardinal

What is your favorite Inner Armour product & why?

I would have to say my favorite Inner Armour product is Mass-Peak. It is a great way to maintain weight and work out  hard. The taste can't be beaten. The muscle growth I have had while taking Mass-Peak is insane. I’ve never found a protein to work so well.

What is your daily work out routine?

My daily workout routine starts before I get to the gym. An hour before I take Mass-Peak and a half hour before I take Power-Peak.

Once I get to the gym I start with about 20 minutes of stretching and then a movement warm-up. After I finish those I start speed training or change of direction. Then, I move on to power training (Olympic lifts).

Weekly Schedule:

Monday and Thursday- Strength training (lower body) & Conditioning

Tuesday and Friday- Strength training (upper body)

Wednesday- Trigger point for about a half hour and rest.

Saturday- I do hot yoga to start my day. It’s great for my flexibility and it helps to prevent injuries. After yoga, I do "arm farm" which I like to call the day I blast my biceps and triceps.

Sunday- Day of rest.

What is your supplement regimen?

My supplement regimen centered around all of the Inner Armour supplements. I also take creatine, fish oils, vitamin C, B-12, ZMA, & beta alanine.

How do you feel heading in to your Rookie season?

I’m very excited about the opportunities that are ahead but I’m also looking forward to the challenges. It’s going to be a dream come true to play football on Sunday afternoons. I’m also looking forward to meeting my teammates and getting settled in Arizona.

What do you do for fun?

I love to relax, watch TV, and hang out with family and friends.

What is your favorite TV show?

My favorite TV show, right now, is Swamp People on the History Channel. Thursday night at 9.

What is your favorite movie?

Lincoln Lawyer

What is the most memorable moment of your football career?

Getting that phone call on draft day and knowing that my dream had come true: I am in the NFL.  But my most memorable football moment would be playing in a BCS on New Year's night.

What is Glycerol H20?

Hydrophilic Cellular Hydration Complex (containing positively charged Carbon Filtered Water and Glycerol with naturally occurring polymeric compounds).

Glycerol is a naturally occurring metabolite that is rapidly absorbed and distributed throughout the body.

It has been shown to help allow your body to temporarily retain extra fluid. This effect can help increase muscle cell size as well as help the effects of thermoregulation (to help prevent overheating which leads to muscle failure).  Exercise can cause excessive fluid losses and glycerol may help enhance hydration.

What is Milk Protein Isolate?

Milk Protein Isolate is a medium rate digesting protein with a natural combination of whey and casein protein. It takes longer to raise blood amino acid levels than whey protein and also drops slower.

Its release rate falls right in between whey and casein and then continues in line with casein, making it an ideal protein to ensure that amino acids stay in the blood between the two.

Is your pre-workout powder working from the “neck up” or the “neck down?”

Judging by the ingredient profile of many pre-workout powders, you might think the only thing you need for a great workout is your head (the “neck up”) and that your muscles (the “neck down”) can stay at home and relax. The truth, of course, is that working out is largely a neck-down affair: The real action takes place deep inside the muscles of your legs, arms, chest, back, etc. where long filaments of protein rapidly slide back and forth generating the force required to lift and lower weights.

POWER-PEAK™ will give you real energy from the “neck down”
ATP is too reactive to be stored inside your muscle cells. Instead, they must re-synthesize it from ADP and P as needed. Maximizing this process is the purpose of POWER-PEAK™, a category-redefining formula that is free of added CNS stimulants but full of nutritional substrates and co-factors that can actually stimulate ATP re-synthesis and other processes that enhance workout performance, muscle recovery and growth. And because POWER-PEAK™ contains no added CNS stimulants, it won’t produce the side effects (e.g. jitters, anxiety) associated with them. You can take it any time of day or night without worry.

Carbohydrates are overlooked in many pre-workout formulas
Despite it being perhaps the most studied sports nutrition ingredient in history, carbohydrate gets little or no attention in several of the “leading” pre-workout powders. In sharp contrast, new POWER-PEAK™ contains glucose precursors like trehalose and low-DE maltodextrin, plus ribose, a 5-carbon monosaccharide used in the synthesis of the ATP molecule. POWER-PEAK™ contains the exact same dose of trehalose shown in clinical studies to support workout performance as effectively as pure glucose while producing 2-fold lower insulin levels and a 75% lower incidence of rebound hypoglycemia.

Clinical Doses, No “Sprinkling”
Inner Armour’s product developers talked at length with ingredient researchers, manufacturers, coaches and other experts, some of whom shared confidential information never before published. Combined with data from clinical studies, these discussions allowed IA to estimate the dose of each ingredient required to help maximize workout performance while minimizing if not preventing side effects. Athletes can have piece of mind knowing that no ingredient was “sprinkled” into the POWER-PEAK™ formula. IA insists on using only efficacious doses based whenever possible on clinical studies:

• Creapure®: No workout is possible without creatine, which is why we added a dose of it sufficient to raise plasma creatine levels greater than 180% and increase fatigue resistance during high-intensity workouts involving multiple sets. Within the first few seconds of initiating a high-intensity contraction, muscles rely on the hydrolysis of phosphocreatine (PC) to supply the energy needed to re-synthesize ATP from ADP and P. By raising creatine levels, POWER-PEAK™ in turn raises muscle PC levels and accelerates muscle force recovery.

• Peak ATP®: Inside cells, ATP provides energy. Outside, it regulates vasodilation, blood flow and oxygenation. Peak ATP® is a stable, clinically-studied form of ATP used to support intra- and extracellular ATP levels throughout your entire workout.

• Microactive® CoQ10: CoQ10 can reduce metabolic stress and enhance aerobic power and other measures of performance. Microactive® is reported to be the only form of this nutrient shown to have “uniform enhanced absorption” across all subjects3. Studies indicate that it has triple the absorption of regular (crystalline) CoQ103.

• GlycoCarn®: Many marketers of pre-workout powders suggest that their products increase nitric oxide (NO) levels, but where’s the evidence? In clinical studies, GlycoCarn® has been shown to increase nitrate and nitrite levels (two markers of NO synthesis) in 11 out of 15 subjects, as well as muscle oxygenation and peak power production, while lowering blood lactate levels4. IA worked closely with the GlyoCarn® researchers, gaining access to confidential findings that helped them estimate the dose required to maximize muscle blood flow and oxygenation without undesirable side effects.

• VasoTea™: This proprietary ratio of green and black teas is exclusive to IA and contains compounds demonstrated to activate NO-synthesizing enzymes and relax blood vessels.

• CarnoSyn®: High-intensity workouts produce H+ (acid), implicated in muscle fatigue. Beta-alanine supplementation increases muscle levels of carnosine, an important H+ “clearing” agent, up to 80%5. It also increases muscle fatigue resistance and power output. IA added a dose sufficient to enhance your workout performance with minimal or no side effects.

• 100% Hydrolyzed Whey: Supporting the maximization of muscle anabolism in POWER-PEAK™ is 10 grams of 100% hydrolyzed whey. This dose yields more than enough essential amino acids to set muscle protein synthesis in motion, the essential element of building muscle and the most important objective of many a workout.
